The Due Dates for ACA Reporting Have Been Extended

The IRS and U.S. Treasury are extending the due dates for ACA reporting in order to help companies that are having trouble with this daunting task.

Employers have been given an additional two months to give the following forms to their employees, changing the date to March 31st, 2016, formerly February 1st, 2016:

  • Form 1095-B, Health Coverage
  • Form 1095-C, Employer-Provided Health Insurance Offer and Coverage

The deadline to submit the following forms to the IRS has also been extended two months, changing the date to May 31st, 2016, formerly February 29th, 2016 if not filing electronically, and to March 31st, 2016, formerly June 30th, 2016 if filing electronically:

  • Form 1094-B, Transmittal of Health Coverage Information Returns
  • Form 1095-B, Health Coverage
  • Form 1094-C, Employer-Provided Health Insurance Offer and Coverage Information Returns
  • Form 1095-C, Employer-Provided Health Insurance Offer and Coverage.

Please be advised that all ALE’s (Applicable Large Employers) must file electronically if they have more than 250 FTE’s (Full-Time Employees).

Employers must give Forms 1095-B & 1095-C to their employees by the deadline of March 31st, 2016.  Employers must then submit the completed forms with the cover sheets, Forms 1094-B & 1095-C, which summarizes all of the employee’s information from the Forms 1095, to the IRS.

Employers that utilize PAYDAY for ACA Compliance will receive completed employee forms 1095 before the above deadline so that they can provide them directly to their employees.  PAYDAY will also file the required forms 1094 and 1095 electronically to the IRS by the new due date for clients that have enrolled in our service.
