California Minimum Wage Going Up January 1, 2021

The minimum wage in California will be increasing on January 1, 2021. Many cities and counties throughout California, however, have enacted ordinances which establish a higher minimum wage rate for employees working within their local jurisdiction. The state minimum wage will increase as follows:

  • $13.00/hour for Employers with 25 Employees or Less
  • $14.00/hour for Employers with 26 Employees or More

The minimum wage in California will reach $15.00 an hour by the year 2022. California’s list of scheduled increases to reach the $15.00 minimum wage by 2022 can be found HERE.

Below is a list of cities and counties that will have a minimum wage increase on January 1, 2020, that will differ from the state's minimum wage. As a reminder, please check your city and county's local ordinances to ensure minimum wage compliance.
